Comments: M38 was one of the deep sky objects that Charles Messier had listed in his famous catalog of "false" comets. The open cluster NGC1907 lies optically "close" to M38 but it is unclear if Messier saw it. In reality these two star clusters are a great distance away from each other. The region near M38 may be seen here
