M8 Lagoon Nebula / M20 Trifid Nebula Region; Sagittarius
Tele Vue 101 f/5.4 refractor
Kodak Supra 400 print film, 150 min.
July 2002; Inkom, ID
Comment: This image was one of the best that I took using film. It is comprised of three 50 minute exposures done with an Olympus OM-1. The negatives were scanned and the images were aligned and digitally stacked giving the 150 minute total exposure time. This region of the summer sky is rich in deep sky objects. Here we see M8, M20, M21 (open cluster near top), and NGC 6544 (globular cluster at bottom left). We also see star clouds in the Sagittarius Milky Way. A CCD version may be seen here.
